Windows 7 Installation Errors in Microsoft Outlook

Unfortunately You Will Have to Reinstall Internet Explorer

Many of the installation errors with Outlook in Windows 7 are caused by –no surprise Explorer. If Explorer 8 is not properly installed you will get errors and Outlook probably will not work.

Another problem is that the version of Explorer on an existing system could be Explorer 7 which is now obsolete. Sometimes replacing Explorer 7 with eight will address these problems. If you are using Explorer 7 you should definitely upgrade to 8.

In some cases these errors can supposedly be fixed by returning the security settings to the defaults. Simply reloading
these from a back up can sometimes but not always fix the problem. This probably won’t work so a far more effective method will be to simply reinstall Internet Explorer 8.

In most cases you are probably going to have to go all the trouble of reinstalling Internet Explorer 8 to get Outlook to work properly. This means that you will probably need to reset the security settings then totally reinstall Internet Explorer 8 to get everything to work right.

You should always use a fresh version of Internet Explorer 8 straight from Microsoft itself when you do this. It is a bit of a bother but the best method is to download Explorer 8 straight from the Microsoft Download Center. You should do this every time you get an Outlook Error message because contrary to popular belief the Microsoft geeks do actually post updated versions of Explorer 8 in which they have actually fixed errors from time to time.

Make Sure it is Not Outlook Express

You should definitely start by reinstalling Explorer because it is probably the cause of most installation errors. Once you reinstall Explorer it would be a good idea to reinstall Outlook as well. Do not try to reinstall Outlook Express because it is not available for Windows 7 or Vista.

Indeed it would be a good idea to check and see if somebody has tried to install Outlook Express on a Windows 7 Machine. Always fully update your Outlook whenever you reinstall Explorer 8. If Outlook Express is there you will have to get rid of it and replace it.

Outlook Express has been replaced in Windows 7 by something called Live Mail. I guess Microsoft finally learned its lesson and scrapped that clunker. Once Outlook is gone you can download and install Live Mail fairly easily.

Command Names

In many cases, just installing a new version of Explorer will get rid of the common errors. Now Microsoft being Microsoft, the fix will create a few other problems you will have to solve. Standard user accounts will actually disappear and you will have to put them back up.

You can put the user names back in by going to start, then clicking all programs and accessories. Right click on command prompt and type net users. This should bring up a list of user names type this command: net localgroup users accountname /add and press enter.

Malware Can Cause Installation Errors for Outlook and Windows 7

Quite a few of the errors in Windows 7 can be caused by Malware. This means it is always a good idea to run a full scan of the computer using your antivirus software before reinstalling Explorer 8. Make sure you are using the latest version of the antivirus software when you do this. Most good antivirus software programs will eliminate most of the Malware that causes Window 7 errors.

Unfortunately you will have to reinstall Explorer after you do the Malware scan in order to fix the damage the Malware has done. Once the scan and installation are done make sure the Errors do not come back. If they do you may have to repeat the process.

Finally if you still get errors from these problems after doing all of these things clean boot your computer by totally reinstalling Windows 7. When you do this make sure get a fresh version of Internet Explorer 8 from the Microsoft Download Center when you do this. You do not want to use the one in your Windows 7 package because it could be the problem.

If this does not work your best bet will be to try and find a good IT guy or gal that has had a lot of experience with Outlook and Windows 7. That person should know a few more tricks for getting rid of installation errors.
