Error: Msvcr80.dll not found

You recently installed an application. Of late you keep getting the error “Msvcr80.dll not found”. Even after restarting the system several times, the error keeps popping up. Grrrr, this is really annoying. What is the reason for this? Is it some virus? Did the system give up on you? The answer is ‘NO’. In this article, you will learn how to take care of this little ‘Msvcr80.dll’ nuisance. Let’s take a look at the causes and fixes for these errors.
Causes for the error “Msvcr80.dll not found”

  • The Msvr80.dll file is accidentally removed.
  • The file is messed up.
  • The program is corrupt and generating the error.
  • The DLL registry files are missing or corrupt.
  • Computer is infected by some sort of malware.

Fix it!!
Open the Microsoft Outlook program and go to “Tools” menu. Select the “Trust Center” from the tools menu. Once that is open, select “Add ins” from the left pane of the “Trust Center” window. You will get a list of Outlook add ins. Choose the add- in that you want to disable. Once it is highlighted, click the check box next to it. After that, click “Remove”.
If you don’t know which add in is causing the error, use the divide and conquer method. Using this method, enable the add-ins one by one. Repeat this process until Outlook refuses to start. Whichever add in you enabled at the end is the culprit. Leave that add- in disabled and re-activate the others.
Note: If you still can’t identify the troublemaker, completely remove the add- ins from the registry (But that is not recommended as it can de-stabilize the Operating system).
Don’t let this put you off installing and downloading new applications. Invalid XML errors, ‘Msvcr80.dll not found’ and other Outlook problems are all part of the Outlook package. Why worry when you have Outlook support to take care of it all?

How do I “Open the Microsoft Outlook program and go to “Tools” menu” when this error prohibits me from opening Microsoft Outlook?

If you cannot start outlook you can try running scan pst. You can read a guide on how to do that here: http://www.outlooktechnicalsupport.com/2011/outlook-tech-support-to-fix-the-archive-pst-file-in-outlook/
