If your having trouble setting up your Yahoo Mail with Outlook Express, you have come to the right spot! Here are easy step by step Outlook Settings directions on how to configure your Yahoo Mail with Outlook Express. Before we get started setting up Outlook, make sure that everything is setup properly in your Yahoo Mail account in optional settings. Make sure you you have “Allow your Yahoo! Mail to be POPed” check, and for “When POPing my messages“, you have either a choice of choosing “don’t POP spam“, “include spam messages“, or “include spam messages and add [Bulk] as prefix to subject“; it all depends on your preference.
Next, open up Outlook and click on “Tools”. Then select “Add a new email account” and click next. Fill out your name and email address in the space provided. for server information, put in pop.mail.yahoo.com for Incoming mail server (POP3), and smtp.mail.yahoo.com, for Outgoing mail server (SMTP).
Next, click on “More Settings“, and click on the “Outgoing Server” tab. Make sure you have “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” and “Use same settings as my incoming mail serve” both checked.
Next, go to the “Advanced Tab”, and check the box that says “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)” for both Incoming server (POP3), and Outgoing server (SMTP). The port number for Incoming should be 995, and for Outgoing it should be 465. For delivery, I have “Leave a copy of messages on the server” checked. This way, I can always check my mail from a different location. So lets say I’m at the library and i want to check my Outlook email, I can log on to my account from another location and check my email that way.
Once your done with that, click OK. Next, click “Test Account Settings“.
If everything went accordingly, all the tasks should say “Complete” under status, which shows that everything is in working order. Click “Close” and then “Next“, then “Finish“. And there you go! You now have synced your Yahoo Mail with Outlook Express.
